Counseling » Overview

The school counselor works with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and other agencies to provide the best possible educational environment for students.  School counselors are responsible for helping students make satisfactory academic, social, and emotional adjustments in school by coordinating and implementing the school’s counseling and guidance program, motivating students, being a student’s information source, role-model, and advocate, being available to students as much as possible, responding promptly to any problem situation, seeking outside help as deemed appropriate, and planning and implementing counseling sessions.  School counselors supplement the counseling and guidance of teachers.
